Yes, birds of an unrecognised breed can be shown at exhibitions, but they will not be judged, which limits the point: as the breed is not recognised under the official standard, there is no judging scale and no official ring size for it. It is, however, a way to officially present a potential new breed with a view to applying for recognition. The same applies to a bird of a recognised breed but in an unrecognised variety: each breed has its own list of recognised varieties.
